World Ready

Recognizing that in today's global economy many organizations operate across multiple geographies, languages and cultures, the Quofore solution has been designed from the outset as "world-ready".

Support for multiple data formats, languages and scripts (including multi-byte characters) is built into the Quofore solution platform. This has allowed Quofore solutions to be deployed successfully by multi-national corporations throughout North America, Europe and Asia Pacific with 1,000's of users running in multiple languages.

The benefits of world-readiness

A world-ready solution allows companies to run the same field operations system across multiple deployments from the same set of source code.

This capability means that organizations can invest in a single solution platform (amortized across the group), can utilize the same (or similar) business rules in all territories, can standardize reporting and performance analysis of field operations, and can rationalize training, ongoing development and system support.

Designed for rapid multinational deployment

The Microsoft® .NET Framework used by Quofore solutions provides extensive support for the development of world-ready applications. However, it requires more than just translating the user interface into different languages; it involves deliberate planning – from the stage of initial design specification.

The development process includes three distinct steps: ‘globalization’, ‘localizability’ and ‘localization’:

  • Globalization means that Quofore applications can correctly accept, process, and display a worldwide assortment of scripts, data formats, and languages. This includes writing systems, calendars in use, date and time formatting conventions, numeric and currency conventions, and sorting rules.
  • Localizability is an intermediate step prior to localization. It means the Quofore application has been enabled for localization by separating the application's executable code from its resources. This ensures that the source code will not have to be modified for localization.
  • Localization, the final step, is the process of customizing the Quofore application for a given culture/locale. This process consists primarily of translating the user interface into the local language. Applications that are retrofitted for multinational use, developed without consideration for these steps, typically result in inferior localized versions, increased cost, and increased time to ‘go live’.

Quofore solutions, having addressed globalization, localizability, and localization requirements during the initial design phase, are able to maximize the quality of localized applications and minimize the amount of time and cost required for deployment. To add a new language or geography, no additional development work is required; only the application’s resources need to be translated for the target culture.
