Global In-Store Practices (Part 2) - results of the ROI Benchmarking survey

ATLANTA, UNITED STATES (July 22, 2010)—The Quofore-Booz & Company 2010 Industry Benchmark ROI Survey released today is in response to popular demand. It is a follow up to the first Industry Benchmark survey. Consumer Products (CP) executives asked for more insight into the return-on-investment practices of their global and domestic peers, and the retailers they supply.

This research focuses on the levels of measurement of retail execution activities -- such as in-store promotion -- and the tools and technologies being used. In collating the survey results, Quofore and Booz & Company analysts discovered an intriguing paradox in the data; despite a belief that ROI is being measured routinely, the majority of respondents remain unable to quantify the revenue impact of their retail execution activities.

Shoppers have shown how rapidly they change trip and purchase behaviors in this recession. While many new savings behaviors are likely to stick, expect that an economic recovery or another dip could alter their sensitivity to promotions, store conditions, thematic messaging and more. Therefore, it becomes critical for CP to course-correct on the fly based on the latest accurate in-store data, and be certain about which levers to pull to yield the highest ROI.

If trade spend has been a money pit for decades, couldn’t more visibility into ROI make it a more effective builder of retailer and CP top and bottom lines and loyalty with shoppers and consumers?
